I have been down the same path . . .
A kitten joined your family and it needs a place to play . . . to climb . . . and to scratch—other than the furniture.
Pet stores have cat furniture, but the nicer ones—with levels and tubes and beds—start at $150. Even scratching posts wrapped in rope sell for $50 and up.
Besides, the carpet used to cover everything is of low quality. Or they aren’t even carpeted inside. Or the look doesn’t match anything else in your house. Or they’re too tall. Or you like some features here and others there, but none of them have all the features you want.
So what do you do? Do what I did Build it yourself!
Same path, another detour . . .
Plans would really help, but neither the library nor the hardware store had anything. Even the Internet turned up little on Cat Furniture plans. And how many people do you know who have built their own cat furniture who can give you advice?

Wow. This cat furniture looks impressive and is easy to make with the directions provided in this well written book. It was full of ideas of what to watch for, where to find materials, and what works best. His helpful tips and suggestions make it well worth getting the book to simplify creating your very own cat furniture. The pictures of the assembly steps and final products help a lot. Also, the book lists all the supplies and tools to have available before assembling the projects and clearly describes how the author created his cat furniture. The cozy kitten hammock looks luxuriously comfortable and adding the Pet-ZZZ-Pad heating pad is a nice touch especially for frosty mornings. Any kitten with a wonderful home like this must know he’s love and valued. One sidenote I found very interesting was how a wild, homeless kitten left to die was found, rescued, and nursed back to health by the author and his family and now greatly enjoys living in these cat furniture pieces. I really enjoyed reading this well written book.Product details

I was able to read this book for free on unlimited, but have decided to purchase the book to have on hand. It wasn't so much the designs although they are great and will serve as a guideline for our own construction of cat trees and perches, it was the stories at the end that got my attention. Although I am already a Christian and know that God is in control of my life, I needed to read the story of Suzie to come to terms with letting my cat Fancy go across the rainbow bridge. Anyone who is not afraid to state their beliefs in such a public way, deserves my support in purchasing the book and encouraging others to purchase it as well. It has some good designs and suggestions to make your own cat trees and where to get the stuff to make them.
Most of these are kitten size..They used to be bigger etc than now..Size and quality, price for what we get is disappointing.
This book only has 4 pieces of cat furniture but they are easy to make and inexpensive and any cat would love them. Only reason I gave the book 4 stars is the sermon at the end.

This book is very helpful for the do-it-yourselfer that wants to build their own cat furniture. Directions include tools, materials and even suggested material sources. You can apply instructions in this book to your own tailored furniture layouts.
The book also includes stories of the author's cat and dog. The stories about Indy and Suzy are heartwarming.
You'll appreciate this book!
This book is well written with good grammar and clarity that enables me to visualize what he is describing. In addition, there are ample pictures to illustrate the description, especially placement of cuts and assembly. I particularly like that a variety of materials were used for similar functions in variations of the cat furniture. This helped me see how I could use things I might find if I could not obtain exactly what he used (often a problem in my location). The presentation is also very logical and complete so that the directions can be followed without wondering what should be done at any stage.
